  •  Who do I call for questions about the church or its members?

    • Call Marion Christian Church office at 319-377-7329.  We can route your call wherever is needed or give you contact info.  Your information or question is always kept confidential.

  • What do I do if I want to go to church but don’t have a car?

    • Call the church office, and you will be connected with a member of the church to help you get to service or an event. 

  • How do I find out what events or classes are available?

    • There are multiple places to find info about upcoming events and classes.  You can go to the website www.marionchristian.com and click on the calendar.  You can also visit our Facebook or call the office.

  • Is there more information about Disciples of Christ, Marion Christian Church or ministry areas?

    • You can find more information about our church on the website or in the member guide.  You can get more information about the Disciples of Christ on www.disciples.org 

  • Are there online resources? 

  • Who is in charge of the finances?

    • Each ministry area manages the budget for things that fall within that ministry.  The Guardianship ministry works on the budget each year based on requests from each ministry, and it is submitted for approval from the congregation.  There is an elected treasurer and financial secretary who oversees the balance throughout the year. 

  • Is there Sunday School? 

    • Yes, at 9:30am on Sunday’s for PreK-8th grade. This program usually runs from the fall through spring.

  • What if my baby/kiddo/friend with a disability is loud during service? 

    • We understand, and no worries!! 

  • How does the church community feel about LGBTQ+?

    • As an open and affirming congregation we are accepting of all of God’s children, LGBTQ+ are welcomed! We have several church members and leaders who identify as LGBTQ.

  • Is the church wheelchair-friendly? 

    • Yes

  • Do I have to pay to be a member?

    • There are never mandatory fees to be a member, and events, classes, and fellowship activities are free or for at-will donations. 

  • Do I have to be a member of a group at church?

    • No.  We always encourage involvement in ministry areas or volunteer activities for those who have the time or comfort to help; however, it is never mandatory to participate in ministry.

  • Who can participate in communion? 

    • Everyone.  We do not have screening or requirements to participate. 

  • When are people baptized? 

    • Baptism is performed for individuals who decide that they want to walk with Jesus.  There is not a specific time or educational requirement. 

  • What if I don’t know the Bible?

    • You don’t have to know the Bible, own a Bible, or have read the Bible.  We talk about the bible in an attempt to better understand God’s message and apply it to the context of our lives. We are all learning together, and we all come with different backgrounds.

  • What if I can’t come every Sunday?

    • Sunday attendance is not required.  We encourage you to attend to enjoy your faith journey with our church community; however we understand that life comes with challenges and commitments.  Come when you can, and encourage others to join you.
